My journey into local politics began in 2013 with my election to the Cambridgeshire County Council for Littleport. During my time there, I served on various committees and became a member of the Fire Authority.
After the gradual decline of UKIP, I remained a loyal member until the very end. I then made the decision to run as an Independent candidate. This proved to be a challenging path, and my initial attempt was unsuccessful—it’s not easy to get elected as an independent when you're up against a major political party.
A few years later, after moving to a new town, I ran for office again. This time, I was successfully elected as an Independent Fenland District Councillor for Chatteris in 2019, defeating a Conservative candidate.
At one point, I decided to establish a political party called the Cambridgeshire Independents. The commission approved the name, although I then decided to pursue other opportunities.
In 2023, having been a member of Reform UK for some time, I decided to stand as a candidate once again, marking my ninth local election. In May 2025, I was successfully elected for Chatteris to both the Cambridgeshire County Council and the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Fire Authority under the Reform UK banner.
